Russ Slifer is a Principal at Schwegman Lundberg & Woesner, and he also serves as the CEO of Black Hills IP. He has been named by IAM as one of the top 300 IP Strategists in the world.
Mr. Slifer served as Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Deputy Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office during the Obama Administration, from March 2015 through January 20, 2017. While Deputy Director, Slifer managed all of the day-to-day operations of the USPTO. Prior to becoming Deputy Director of the USPTO, Mr. Slifer served as the Director of the Rocky Mountain United States Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to his work at the USPTO, he held leadership positions in the intellectual property industry, spending eight years as Chief Patent Counsel for Micron Technology, and serving as a long-time member of the Board of Directors of the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) and past President of the Association of Corporate Patent Counsel (ACPC).
