The Paul Michel Award: David Kappos
IPWatchdog, Inc. is pleased to announce the creation of The Paul Michel Award, which will be awarded annually someone within the U.S. IP community who has selflessly served the best interests of the industry and its members, as a respected leader, mentor and advocate on behalf of fairness and the intellectual property system.
This award is created with the approval and blessing of Chief Judge Paul Michel (ret.), who himself has been a mentor to so many within the IP community and who has been a tireless advocate on behalf of the patent system and broader IP system since he retired from the Federal Circuit.
In consultation with Chief Judge Michel, IPWatchdog is pleased to announce that David J. Kappos, former Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO, and current partner at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, has been selected as the first recipient of The Paul Michel Award. He will be presented with the award on Sunday evening, September 12, 2021, at IPWatchdog LIVE. Chief Judge Paul Michel will deliver pre-recorded remarks.
